FAQS FOR PROSPECTIVE EMPLOYEES

  • Step 1: Review the open positions page to choose an opportunity that best fits your skills and experiences.
  • Step 2: Get your resume ready! To be considered for a position, apply directly through the website using the instructions outlined in the job posting. You’ll receive an automatic reply to confirm that we’ve received your application.
  • Step 3: Once you have submitted your application through the website, our People Operations team will reach out with a screening questionnaire if we are interested in learning more about your background and experience. Your application and questionnaire will be shared with the hiring team, who will identify candidates for interviews.
  • Step 4: Should your application be chosen for further vetting by the hiring team, you may be asked to participate in two to three additional interviews. You will also have the opportunity to complete a skills assessment that mimics responsibilities and projects that are a key part of the position for which you applied.
  • Step 5: As a final step, you will be asked to share professional references who our hiring team will contact. If you are a US citizen, you will also be asked to participate in a general background check before hiring can be confirmed.

Most interviews at UNSPOKEN SMILES are conducted by video conference to allow for flexibility for both staff and the candidate. When there is a request for an in-person interview, People Operations will work closely with the candidate to ensure the cost of travel is covered.

Our staff have a diverse range of experiences, skills, and backgrounds. However, all of our staff share the following key competencies: mission and values alignment, technical ability, growth mindset, sector knowledge and understanding, and potential for growth. Our staff understand the critical need of our work and are motivated to solve problems, and are willing to wear many different hats.

Positions at UNSPOKEN SMILES are generally open to candidates based on the candidate’s ability to work in the country where the position is located (United States or Costa Rica). A small number of roles are open to international candidates, for whom UNSPOKEN SMILES would support in accessing work authorization and the appropriate visa/residency status. If a role is open to international candidates, that will be stated on the job posting. National candidates (applicants who are citizens/residents of the country in which a job is located) are encouraged to apply for any position located in their country for which they meet the criteria.

We generally do not sponsor US visas for international applicants. Visas for positions based in other countries are considered on a case-by-case basis.

All available positions are currently listed on our open positions page. We will post additional full-time, practicum, consultant, and internship opportunities as they become available. We do not accept unsolicited internship or volunteer inquiries or applications at this time.

We conduct informational interviews on a case-by-case basis; however, we do not have the capacity to respond to all informational interview requests at this time. To ensure a fair and equitable selection process, we do not allow managers to perform informational interviews for positions in which they are directly hiring.
