- Step 2: Get your resume ready! To be considered for a position, apply directly through the website using the instructions outlined in the job posting. You’ll receive an automatic reply to confirm that we’ve received your application.
- Step 3: Once you have submitted your application through the website, our People Operations team will reach out with a screening questionnaire if we are interested in learning more about your background and experience. Your application and questionnaire will be shared with the hiring team, who will identify candidates for interviews.
- Step 4: Should your application be chosen for further vetting by the hiring team, you may be asked to participate in two to three additional interviews. You will also have the opportunity to complete a skills assessment that mimics responsibilities and projects that are a key part of the position for which you applied.
- Step 5: As a final step, you will be asked to share professional references who our hiring team will contact. If you are a US citizen, you will also be asked to participate in a general background check before hiring can be confirmed.

Most interviews at UNSPOKEN SMILES are conducted by video conference to allow for flexibility for both staff and the candidate. When there is a request for an in-person interview, People Operations will work closely with the candidate to ensure the cost of travel is covered.

Positions at UNSPOKEN SMILES are generally open to candidates based on the candidate’s ability to work in the country where the position is located (United States or Costa Rica). A small number of roles are open to international candidates, for whom UNSPOKEN SMILES would support in accessing work authorization and the appropriate visa/residency status. If a role is open to international candidates, that will be stated on the job posting. National candidates (applicants who are citizens/residents of the country in which a job is located) are encouraged to apply for any position located in their country for which they meet the criteria.
We generally do not sponsor US visas for international applicants. Visas for positions based in other countries are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
We are looking for an Executive Assistant reporting directly to the CEO, providing
executive support in a one-on-one working relationship. The ideal intern will assist in
being the primary point of contact for internal and external constituencies on all matters
pertaining to the office of the CEO. The ideal individual will have impeccable attention to
detail, the ability to exercise good judgement in a variety of situations, with strong
written and verbal communication, administrative, and organizational skills, and the
ability to maintain a realistic balance among multiple priorities.
This individual will provide administrative, project, and research support and will be
exposed to multiple facets of running a nonprofit organization. This key position requires
a dynamic, energetic and quick-witted individual who thrives in a fast-paced
environment and will take ownership of responsibilities and anticipate needs.
* Please note that this is a paid, work study position.
Interns will have the opportunity to build Unspoken Smile Foundation organizational
capacity, while gaining access to a wide network in the international development sector
● Answer, prioritize and screen incoming phone calls and voicemail messages
● Manage the CEO’s calendar by planning and scheduling meetings, calls, and
conferences
● Travel scheduling and booking for the CEO
● Prepare material and taking notes for meetings
● Maintain confidential relationships: enter and edit data in Salesforce, our Donor Database
● Write and post regularly on social media channels
● Create and edit new content for CEO’s blog
● Maintain office supplies inventory and order supplies as needed
● Other duties related to operations and administration
